Location: Willowmore, Eastern Cape

Project Description:

Originally an old Synagogue in the small tourist town of Willowmore in the Eastern Cape, we were tasked to redesign it into a destination Air BnB, which would attract new visitors to the eclectic town.

About my design:

Meaning “Willow” in Hebrew, AVARAH is inspired by the natural elements and meaningful history which make up the fabric of Willowmore, aiming to both honour it and create a modern space for visitors with a timeless allure.

Unraveling a tapestry of elements and infusing the space with stories of a by-gone era, the spaces of AVARAH become portals into forgotten worlds where stories are whispered through each meticulously curated chair, weathered table, and designed element - creating a truly unforgettable experience.
